According to Carlo Barbieri, even with a new congressman more fierce and in combat with the proposals of Donald Trump, the economic panorama of the United States will be one of the fundamental points in the elections of 2020 In the United States, the mid-term elections seemed not to bother Republican President Donald Trump.

With the result, the Democrats regained control of the House of Representatives, which had not happened for eight years, and the Republicans won a majority in the Senate. The “blue wave” was not as strong as expected, and Trump declared himself victorious. However, even with more Congressional deputies, the Democrat party may continue to trail the agenda of the current US president.

With more than 25 years of experience in the US, Carlo Barbieri, an economist and political analyst, emphasizes that the strategy of barring Trump government bills in the House may have an effect contrary to that desired by the Democrats, which strengthens the president for the 2020 elections “Trump is always in a bellicose position, does not build a line in harmony, because it is always a war.

The effect desired by the president is to put the Democrats against the will of the majority of the American people he won during his tenure. And it is likely that the Democrats will join this bellicose line, which will surely favor their re-election in the presidency. ”

On the other hand, according to Carlo, this confrontation lessens the bargaining power of the president’s international agreements, paralyzing or at least slowing down the agenda of a strong US and exporter. The economist’s assessment also predicts that in this post-election scenario, in terms of domestic growth, there should be no major hiccup as tax cuts and the attraction of new foreign capital, as well as the repatriation of large US corporations, will sustain growth and employment.

Foreign market companies have been attracted by new US trade agreements, which convey to businessmen the assurance that, when established in the country, they will still have better growth conditions. In recent years the United States of America has attracted investments from various sectors of activities, such as arms, steel, juices, food, among others. “And the intent of the nations that sought the US went far beyond locating only its export base, as often its industrial base and even its US headquarters, to use the new tax format, currently the best in the free world “, Ponders Barbieri.

Beyond the impasses of the new US Congress, the country’s economic position will be a determining factor for re-election. One of Trump’s most successful repercussions is the fall in the unemployment rate. Currently the brand is 3.7%, the lowest index in 49 years. The president has also highlighted record declines in unemployment rates among the black population. In May of this year, unemployment among blacks fell to 5.9%, the lowest percentage since 1970.

Supported further by the economic stimulus argument, another strong point for Trump’s re-election is the historic lowering of taxes for the middle class. “This should potentially be the mainstay of growth and a key element in the 2020 elections,” says Carlo Barbieri. Considered one of Donald Trump’s biggest wins, after a long process, the long-awaited tax reform provides for tax cuts for businesses and large fortunes. The world’s largest economy reduced corporate income tax (IR) from 35% to 21%.

Not limited to greater economic opening and lower unemployment in 50 years, in the second quarter of 2018 the US achieved the best economic growth result in 4 years, with a positive increase of 4.1%. Still this year, Florida’s economy has gone from trillion dollars. This value of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the State is greater than that of countries like Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Argentina and the Netherlands.
