A career journalist with more than 40 years in the field, Dale is a Massachusetts native who moved to Florida with his wife in 2000. He is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston, with degrees in English and Journalism, and he studied secondary English instruction at Providence College. He worked a year at the Sun Chronicle in his home town of Attleboro, Mass., immediately after graduating from college.
He then spent 28 years at the Pawtucket (R.I.) Times as a reporter and city editor. After moving to Florida, he was an editor at the Palm Beach Daily News and later a reporter and city editor at the Boca Raton News for eight years.
Dale and Julia have done extensive freelance writing and photography work and currently operate King Media Group, providing freelance writing, public relations and related services to several magazines, newspapers and other companies. The Shrimp House is a client of the firm that launched in 2011.
The recipient of two awards for Excellence in General Newswriting from the Florida Press Club, Dale also received an award for excellence in literary criticism from the Rhode Island Press Association. The Bristol County (Mass.) Association of Teachers honored him with a “Friend of Education” award for excellence in education writing
